The OCN Storm are fresh off their first weekend sweep of the young KJHL season.
Saturday’s matchup was a close one against Cross Lake, with the Storm holding a narrow 3-2 lead heading into the third period. OCN would pull away in the final frame, scoring three unanswered goals to secure a 6-2 victory and their second straight win.
Maddox Dominey led the way offensively with a pair of goals, while Logan Grenier put together a strong performance in goal as the Storm’s starting netminder.
Sunday’s contest was much more one-sided, as the Storm jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the opening period. Cross Lake managed to score three times in the second, but OCN answered with four of their own to take an 8-3 lead into the final frame.
Both teams added a goal in the third, resulting in a 9-4 final. Keestin Danielson and Brayden Church combined for four goals in the victory.
The other KJHL action this past weekend saw Norway House and Peguis split their two-game set. Norway House won Saturday’s contest 11-6, while Peguis bounced back with a 5-3 victory on Sunday.
The Storm are now tied with Cross Lake for second place in the KJHL standings.
OCN will be back at home this weekend to face Cross Lake once again. Saturday’s game gets underway at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday’s puck drop is set for 1:00 p.m.
