The  Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN) Family and Community Wellness Centre

provides integrated services that support the health, safety and well-being of all

NCN members and families. The organization brings together child and family services, public and community health, and family wellness programming under a community-driven model rooted in culture, respect and accountability. Through these services, the

Wellness Centre plays a vital role in supporting families, protecting children

and strengthening the overall well-being of the Nation.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Board of Directors is seeking an Executive Director to lead the NCN Family and Community Wellness Centre through its next phase of growth and service delivery.

Working closely with the Board, leadership team, community partners, and a

support system, the Executive Director will provide strategic and operational

leadership across the organization and build capacity for tomorrow’s

leaders.   The successful candidate will guide programs that support children,

families and community wellness while strengthening organizational capacity

and advancing community-based leadership within NCN.

 

This role requires a collaborative, empathetic, and grounded leader who is

community-driven, demonstrates integrity and decisiveness, and inspires and

empowers others.  The Executive Director must understand complex service

environments and be committed to advancing community-driven approaches

to health, wellness and family support.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director provides strategic and operational

leadership across the organization to ensure effective programs, strong governance

and responsive services for the community. Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Lead the continued implementation of the organization’s vision, mission, values and strategic priorities while advancing the long-term goals of the Wellness Centre
  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of programs, operations and staff across the organization
  • Build internal capacity by developing and supporting community members in leadership and service delivery roles, strengthening long-term organizational capability and community development
  • Support the Board in governance and decision-making through clear communication, reporting and strategic advice
  • Ensure programs operate in compliance with legislation, standards, funding agreements and organizational policies
  • Foster a respectful, collaborative and culturally grounded workplace environment while providing leadership in workforce development, recruitment and performance management
  • Take accountability for organizational performance, financial stewardship, funding agreements, and risk management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leadership, partners, service providers and government stakeholders while representing the organization in the community and broader service network
  • Ensure services support the safety, stability and well-being of children, families and community members

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The Board is seeking a respected leader who brings a strong commitment to

community wellness and experience working within Indigenous organizations

and service environments. The ideal candidate will bring:

 

  • Leadership experience in child and family services, public health, community wellness and/or related sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex organizations and multidisciplinary teams in dynamic service environments
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and supporting effective governance and decision-making
  • Understanding of Indigenous governance, community priorities and culturally grounded service delivery
  • Experience overseeing organizational operations, including financial stewardship, human resources and program management
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with community leadership, partners, funders and government stakeholders
  • Strong judgment, communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Boards, leadership and staff
  • Commitment to supporting the well-being of children, families and community members

*Relevant education in social work, health, public administration or a related

field is considered an asset. Equivalent leadership experience and demonstrated

commitment to community wellness will also be considered.

Reporting to the Keewatin Housing Association Inc. Property Manager, the Tenant Relations Officer/Accounts Receivable is responsible for providing tenant services, performing data entry and related duties in posting accounts receivable payments. The Tenant Relations Officer/Accounts Receivable will also provide support with monthly bank reconciliations, daily transactions processing, and other monthly financial processing procedures as requested.


Duties:
Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts receivable such as statements using computerized and manual systems. Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile A/R payment transactions in a subledger or computer system. Prepare period reports. Respond to tenant inquiries, maintain good tenant relations and issue work orders. Act as support for other finance positions when required. Perform other related duties as requested.


Qualifications:
• Certificate in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and two years of finance experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be bondable.
• Experience with SAGE 300 (ACCPAC) modules, Microsoft Office programs with emphasis in Excel spreadsheets.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in a fully integrated office environment. Ability to work under sporadic stress and/or pressure.

Under the general direction of Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC) Medical Transportation Coordinator and Director of Health, the Afterhours Supervisor directs and supervises the activities of the After Hours unit by implementing regulations, policies and guidelines to ensure staff provides client centered service and maintain liaison between the providers of transportation and accommodations and First Nation and Inuit Health.


Activities:
• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the Afterhours staff;
• Coordinates and recruits according to policy as required;
• Ensures Afterhours is adequately staffed at all times;
• Ensure adequate, proper and most economical means of transportation is being utilized;
• Resolve client and or service conflicts; collects and tracks information;(work order incident report;
• Available to staff on call basis;


Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school or recognized post-secondary training in Business Skills that includes communication and written skills and or combination of experience in the related field.
• Experience and Knowledge of the fundamentals of supervision and conflict resolution skills.
• Knowledge and proven proficiency in computers and various software i.e. Word processing, email,client records software.

CRISIS RESPONSE ADVISOR
FULL TIME POSITION

Under the general direction of Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC) Director of Health and the Wellness Programming Team Leader, the Crisis Response Advisor will assist member First Nations in Crisis situations in collaboration with the Crisis Response team and KTC according to Crisis Response protocol. They will respond to requests for assessments, support or consultation regarding community members in crisis due to community trauma/emergent situations, mental health, suicide or addictions concerns. They will provide on-site support to youth, caregivers and community members, provide referrals or linkage to resources and provide informational resources based on a case management model.


QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Post-Secondary education / training / experience in the Social Services field.
2. Demonstrated counseling skills with First Nations and ability to facilitate the transfer of skills to community-based resources.
3. Understand of crisis intervention and experience working with people with mental illness, substance related concerns etc.
4. Providing trauma and grief/loss support to individuals, families and community as a whole;
5. Community Crisis Response experience or suitable amount of experience or education.
6. Knowledgeable of government agencies and various organizations.
7. Should have good communication and organizational skills.
8. Computer skills are needed for various input of reporting requirements.
9. Ability to work well as a team member.
10. Ability to speak Cree/Dene would be an asset.

Resolution Support Worker (RSW)


Working under the general direction of the Director of Health, the Resolution Health Support Worker (RHSW) provides services and support to Indian Residential School Claimants who are involved in the Independent Assessment Process (IAP).  The RHSW provides for the broad needs of a caseload of individuals through a process of direct contact, situational evaluations and needs assessments, and the formulation of remedial strategies to meet the overall constituent needs in an effective and respectful manner, and the objective monitoring of the overall effectiveness of these activities.


The (RHSW) shall take a leadership role in initiating and facilitating community outreach designed to increase awareness of the Independent Assessment Process in the Northern Manitoba region. The RHSW shall ensure that all activities are undertaken in a manner that is consistent with, and complementary to, the Vision Statement, the Principles and Values and the policies and procedures of Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC).


Qualifications:
• Must have experience providing mental health services.
• Possess a current Province of Manitoba Driver’s License and a suitable vehicle for work-related transportation. Ability to travel extensively in the Province of Manitoba and nationally, as required. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
• Efficacy in the operation of a personal computer, including the use of word processing software and spreadsheet applications and other general office equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in general program or project management, financial management and control.
• Ability to write monthly and quarterly program activity reports.
• Excellent communication, both written and oral skills as well as interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in conducting individual / group counseling, leading group presentations and dealing effectively with situations of conflict and stress.

• Ability to communicate in an Aboriginal language(s) and/or previous exposure to Aboriginal communities and cultures would be a definite asset.

Keewatin Tribal Council Health Department is currently seeking a Cultural Support Worker to provide direct support services to Indian Residential Schools (IRS) Survivors and their families in Northern Manitoba.


Roles and Responsibilities:
Liaise/network with Northern Aboriginal communities and other stakeholders in raising awareness about the Indian Residential Schools, Truth and Reconciliation and   Commemoration events;
• Conduct information sessions, presentations and workshop on the History Of Residential Schools,
• Identify Survivor support needs, provide for these needs and refer as necessary to the appropriate resources as well as existing community services and supports;
• Respond to calls from all stakeholders involved in the IRSSA and IRSRHSP;
• Prepare activity reports and participate in regular IRS program planning activities;


Qualifications:
• Applied Counselling Certificate or equivalent education and experience;
• Knowledge & sensitivity of each community’s cultural practices;
• Knowledge of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement (IRSSA) Program
• Knowledge of the IRS Survivors and intergenerational impacts;
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Word, PP, Excel etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to speak Cree or Dene would be an asset
• Must have strong Organizational skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment;
