The Northern Manitoba Blizzard went 2-0 over the weekend against what was the number-one team in the MJHL.
Last Friday, the Blizz toppled Selkirk 8-3, then the following day, Northern Manitoba picked up their second shutout of the season with a 6-0 win against the Steelers.
Some notable performances over the weekend included Gavin Rusenstrom’s two-goal night on Friday and, of course, Kannen Kirkwood’s goaltending performance on Saturday.
The Blizz are now tied with Virden for first place in the MGEU West Division with ten points.
The Blizz are back on the road this week to play their two lone October away games against Selkirk and Neepawa. Both games happen back-to-back on Friday and Saturday, with puck drops starting at 7:30 p.m.
102.9 CJAR will be broadcasting both games, so be sure to catch all the action live with Tyler Cyr.
In other MJHL news, Virden, Dauphin, and Steinbach also went 2-0 over the weekend, while the Swan Valley Stampeders split their two games. Neepawa, Winnipeg, and Winkler each dropped both of their contests.
