JV Trojans Compete Hard at AAA Provincial Championships

After representing not only the City of Thompson but the entire north this past weekend, both JV teams from R.D. Parker Collegiate certainly made everyone proud with their efforts at the Provincial AAA JV Boys and Girls Basketball Championships.

Starting with the JV girls, their provincial journey began with a win-or-go-home matchup against Edward Schreyer, where they pulled off a nail-biting 34–33 victory. The win advanced them to face the Linden Christian Wings in game one. The Trojans came up short in that contest and moved on to the consolation semifinal, where they unfortunately fell 47–41 to Dauphin, bringing their provincial championship run to an end.

On the boys’ side, the JV squad competed at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate, where they opened their tournament against the eventual champions in the Faith Academy Lightning. Although they came up short, the game was highly competitive. The Trojans bounced back in their next matchup with a decisive win over Dauphin.

The JV boys then advanced to the consolation final against the Beliveau Barracudas. When the final buzzer sounded, the Barracudas came out on top with a 75–67 victory.

A huge congratulations goes out to both squads on their strong showings this past weekend. Up next are the varsity teams, who are preparing for their upcoming provincial tournament at Sanford Collegiate, with games set to get underway tomorrow.
