The Flin Flon Bombers will try to get back in the win column tonight in Estevan after dropping a 3 to 2 decision in Weyburn on Wednesday night that snapped their 11 game winning streak.
Flin Flon still got a point so they are unbeaten in regulation in their last 12 games.
Joey Lies is having a great road trip picking up 4 goals in the first two games including his second career hattrick against the Nipawin Hawks on Tuesday. Lies got banged up in the second period against the Wings on Wednesday and his status for tonight is unknown.
The Bombers will get local product Wyatt Stinton back in uniform tonight after serving his two game suspension from a fight against the Bruins last Saturday at the Whitney Forum.
Flin Flon sits in first place with a record of 29-9-1-1, which is 5 points up on both the Battleford Stars and Weyburn Red Wings, while Estevan will try to snap a 3 game losing streak and are currently 6th overall at 21-16-2-1, just two points up on the 7th place Kindersley Klippers.
Two of those Bruin losses came at the hands of the Bombers last weekend, with Flin Flon winning a tight one 2 to 1 on Friday, and then they shut the Bruins out 5 to 0 on Saturday.
Flin Flon did an outstanding job on shutting down the Bruins high powered offense in particular their top two offensive threats in Rylan Williams and Ewen Rennie who have combined for 114 points so far this season.
Rennie sits first in overall league scoring with Williams in third spot, so the Bombers will have to find a way to shut down these two lethal scorers if they want to pick up the win tonight.
Flin Flon leads the season series 2-1 with both of their wins coming at the Whitney Forum last weekend while the Bruins doubled up on the Bombers 4 to 2 in Estvan back on October the 18th.
Puck drop at Affinity Place is 7pm.
Also a big congratulations is in order for Bomber Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan who has surpassed 1000 games behind the Flin Flon Bomber bench.
Mike took over behind the bench in the 2007 season and has been a main stay ever since, leading his team to multiple league finals and was just a single goal away from winning it all back in 2022.
He is a former SJHL Coach Of The Year and CJHL Coach Of The Year and only the legendary Dwight McMillan of the Weyburn Red Wings has coached more games in the history of the SJHL.
Congratulations Mike on a huge milestone and good luck to you and the Bombers tonight.
