It has been a rough start for the Creighton Kodiaks 6 man Football Team.
The Kodiaks had a short bench yesterday as they made their way to Shellbrook to battle the Ardvarks and dropped a 60 to 13 decision and are 0-2 to start the season.
Creighton only had 13 players dressed and Deakon Anaka led the way with two touchdowns. Brayden Church made his first start at quarterback and played very well and was able to move the ball.
Unfortunately penalties also hurt the Kodiaks with two touchdowns being called back on penalties.
Fatigue set in towards the second half and Shellbrook was able to wear the Kodiaks down and picked up the victory.
Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk says despite the tough start they are trying to remain optimistic. " We know going into Wakaw next week we are in extremely tough with the guys we have. We are hoping to have PK and Quinton back, and hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel with the injuries we have. The goal is to get our full lineup back and have a really good home game on our new field with our fans. We will go to Wakaw next week and try to build on some of our positives. We then get to return home and make it tough on some of these teams when they come North."
The Kodiaks will finish on the road in Wakaw next Thursday and will get to finish out the regular season with three straight games at home.
The home opener against Hague will go Thursday October the 2nd at the Creighton Field with kickoff at 4pm, MB time.
