Flin Flon Bomber Great Has Passed Away

A former Flin Flon Bomber great who went on to play professional hockey for several years, Murray Anderson has passed away at the age of 75.

Anderson  was born and lived in the Pas and  played for the Bombers in the glory days of the WCHL between 1967 and 70 .

Murray played defense and put up 94 points in 158 games for Flin Flon  before being selected in the 4th round of the NHL Draft  by the Montreal Canadians in 1969.

Anderson would spend the bulk of his time in the minors playing for the Montreal Voyageurs, Rochester, Nova Scotia, New Haven, Richmond, Sprigfield and Tulsa.

His big break came in 1974 with the NHL expansion draft where he was selected by the Washington Capitals. Anderson suited up for his first NHL game on October the 22nd of 1974 and picked up an assist.

After his playing career was done, Murray attended the University Of Manitoba and moved back to the Pas and worked at various businesses and coached many local hockey teams.

A service will be held at the Legion Hall in The Pas,  on Monday July 7th,  at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Murray’s memory to The Pas Minor Hockey Association:

Murray will fondly be remembered as a husband, father, friend, teammate, coach, and gentleman — will be deeply missed and remembered forever.
