With their backs against the wall the Flin Flon Bombers played by far their best game of the SJHL Semi Final , and rallied for a 5 to 1 win last night in Weyburn.
As a result the Flin Flon Bombers will now live to play another game, but still have some work to do as they are down three games to one.
Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan has been preaching that his team needed to get off to a better start and they did that scoring the first goal last night.
One of the players that the Bombers really needed to get going was Keefe Gruener who led his team with 34 goals in the regular season. Gruener opened up the game mid way through the opening period with his third of the playoffs and the Bombers never looked back.
They would make it 3 to 0 in the second on goals by Carter Cormier (2) and AP Eric Han who scored his first ever SJHL playoff goal. Han led Tisdale in scoring with 53 points this past season in the Saskatchewan U-18 AAA Hockey league and looks like he will be a great player for the Bombers.
Ethan Dekay was the only Red Wing to beat Matthew Kieper late in the second period to get Weyburn within two at 3 to 1. This was Dekay's fourth goal in the last two games.
This was the Bomber's night as they kept pressing and scored two more insurance goals in the third period courtesy of Ryder Ringor with his league leading 8th of the playoffs and Anthony Piccininno scored his second.
Flin Flon also needed a good game out of the SJHL'S top goaltender this past season and Matthew Kieper delivered making 34 saves and a lot of them came at key times.
This is a big win for lots of reasons as it not only keeps the Bomber season alive but they also have confidence that they can score on Angelo Zol.
Heading into last night Zol was 3-0 in the series with a Save % of .975. The Bombers beat him 5 times last night on 37 shots.
The referees did a good job last night letting these two teams decide it 5 on 5 with only four minor penalties being called in the entire game.
This will set the stage for game 5 at the Whitney Forum on Saturday as Bomber fans will once again get a chance to come out and cheer on their team.
Puck drop at 7:30 and will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and play by play at 7:30 for Creighton Furniture.
