The Flin Flon Bombers only needed to score one goal once again to take game 6 of the SJHL Quarter Final Series against the Humboldt Broncos.
After a scoreless first period, second year defenseman Luke Lepper scored the game winner with a beautiful snapshot just inside the Humboldt blue line that beat Dazza Mitchell over his right shoulder.
That was all the offense that Flin Flon would need who ended up taking game 6 by a score of 5 to 0 and eliminate Humboldt 4 games to two.
Joey Lies would score his first of the series just two minutes later, when he grabbed a puck in the corner and walked out front to beat Dazza Mitchell 5 hole to put the Bombers up 2 to 0 after two.
Flin Flon got a big insurance goal early in the third when Ryder Ringor scored his series leading 6th of the playoffs on a nice one timer on the powerplay.
Landon Alexander and Reid Arberry who scored his first of the playoffs rounded out the scoring.
Not only do the Bombers win the series 4 games to 2 but they out scored the Broncos 28 to 9 with Matthew Kieper picking up three shut-outs, including two back to back.
Final shots last night were 50 to 23 for the Bombers who fired a 174 shots at the Broncos at the three games at the Elgar Petersen Arena.
As the series went on I think the Broncos just ran out of gas, but I tip my hat to them on their spirit and they have always been a first class organization.
Good luck to all their graduating players and I know Head Coach Brayden Klimosko will have them back in the mix next season.
Flin Flon will now move on to the final 4, The SJHL Semi Finals against the Weyburn Red Wings who advanced, after beating the Battlefords 4 games to 2 including a hard fought 2 to 1 series clincher last night.
The Bombers went 1-2-1 against the Wings in the regular season with the majority of the games coming early in the season before the Bomber roster was set.
The series will open up at the Whitney Forum this Friday and Saturday with puck drop both nights at 7:30 and broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
