The Flin Flon Bombers will head into the post season on a high as they knocked off the Laronge Ice Wolves 4 to 1 on Saturday night.
The Bombers were able to avenge a 6 to 3 loss in Laronge the night before.
Koen Senft had the hot hand as he picked up his first career SJHL hat-trick and added an assist as he was in on every goal to spark his team in the final SJHL regular season game.
Senft will finish the season with 17 goals which was third best on the team this past season.
The lone goal for Laronge was scored by Hudson Cameron who scored his 19th of the season on a break away in the second period.
Kenny Marquart picked up the win for Flin Flon in what may have been his best game of the season in stopping 31 out of 32 shots. Graham Brown took the loss and made 35 saves on 39 shots.
Brown was huge for the Wolves down the stretch and was a big reason why Laronge made a big push late in the season.
This loss officially eliminates Laronge from the playoffs who showed a lot of guts and tenacity down the stretch and will only miss the playoffs by 2 points which is a big improvement from the previous season.
Flin Flon will finish the year at 38-13-4-1, 81 points and a second place finish.
The Bombers now prepare to open up the post season against a familiar foe in the Humboldt Broncos who finished 7th overall wrapping up the season with a solid 6 to 1 win over Nipawin on Friday night.
This will be the fourth playoff meeting between these two teams in the last 5 seasons with the Bombers winning the previous three series. Even though Humboldt is a 7th seed, they will be no push over and will give the Bombers all they can handle.
They have some guys that can score and Dazza Mitchell is as good as anyone between the pipes and has been very good in the post season the last couple of years.
It should be very interesting and entertaining for both fan bases.
The schedule has not been released yet, but it has been confirmed that Flin Flon will host games one and two at the Whitney Forum on Friday and Saturday.
102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will broadcast all the Flin Flon Bomber playoff games home and away.
