Kodiaks Season Comes To An End

The Creighton Kodiaks 6-man football team saw their season come to an end this past Saturday in Provincials  as they limped into Rosetown with a very injured ball club.

The Kodiaks were missing their starting quarterback Josh Trumbley, Brayden Eyres and Payton Pellietier and lost a few more players early in the game Saturday.

Rosetown also has one of the strongest football programs in the province and it showed as the Royals took it to  the Kodiaks 62 - 12.

Creighton got their offense from Brody Grant who caught a 70-yard touchdown pass and Kwinton Lycan who ran in a touchdown from the goal line.

Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk summed up his team's final game on Saturday. " I don't want to make excuses,  but it sure would of been nice to dream what it would have been like to be full strength  with the team we went into Shellbrook and Hague with.  You can't replace your starting quarterback for the most part with his experience and speed. Even though Rylan did a fantastic  job it is more the defensive players that worried us with the matchup against Rosetown.  The icing on the cake was losing Payton and there is no one in the league I could replace Payton with. I thought we did a good job as we limped into Rosetown but the injuries continued to mount up."

Despite the loss in Rosetown on Saturday,  it was still a very successful season for Creighton who finished the regular season at 4 and 2 and were the first ever team from the North to get a Provincial seed.

The last order of business will be the year end banquet where they will say goodbye to 12 graduating players at a date to yet be determined.
