The Creighton Kodiaks were able to battle the frosty conditions at the Creighton Field yesterday and knocked off Shellbrook 38 to 18 in 6 man football.
This pushed the Kodiak record to 3-1 and it was also their first win at home.
Due to the frigid temperatures, the Kodiaks kept the ball on the ground and it paid off with quarterback Josh Trumbley running in for two majors and Payton Pellietier scoring the other.
The Kodiaks were also able to air one out to Rogan Hlady who hauled in a 16 yard pass. Hlady also converted three converts.
Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk was pleased with the win. " It feels good and it would of been nice if it was a bit warmer. We brought the warmth to our sidelines with some big runs and I am proud of the guys. It was close for a while but I thought we just mentally ran away at the end."
Creighton has their sights on a playoff spot and if they can win one of their two last games would guarantee them a spot in Provincials. Next week they travel to Wakaw before wrapping up the regular season against Hague.
Be listening to 102.9 CFAR next Tuesday as Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk will be our special guest on the Norman Sportsline as we will chat about the team's latest win, playoffs and the recent Northern Saskatchewan Football Jamboree that took place in Regina.
