The Flin Flon Bombers wrapped up the weekend with their strongest performance this season going into Laronge and dumping the hometown Ice Wolves 5 to 2 on Saturday.
Keefe Gruener once again led the way with a pair of goals and now has a team leading 4 on the season. Newly acquired Ryder Ringor scored his second in as many games with Evin Bossel and Koen Senft rounding out the scoring.
This was Bossel's first ever SJHL goal and he had a lot of chemistry with his two 17 year old linemates in Wyatt Stinton and Leo Seitz. They were a force all night and look like they have a very bright future in junior hockey.
Laronge got their two goals from Zane Normand and David Vitt.
Massimo Urbani picked up his first SJHL win and only had to make 12 saves as the Bombers dominated the Wolves all night and held them to just 2 shots in the third period.
Logan Falk was much busier and stopped 41 and suffered the loss after stopping 39 out of 42 the night before in the Laronge OT victory.
This was a big improvement from the night earlier where Laronge was able to knock off Flin Flon 4 to 3 in OT Friday in a game which the Bombers turned the puck over steady in their own zone.
Mike Reagan commented on the CFAR Post Game Show Saturday that they watched video and had some meetings with players before boarding the bus , and they were all on the same page and knew they had to play much better.
This was one of the most dominant efforts I have seen from the Bombers in Laronge as they took it to the Wolves for the entire game, and did an outstanding job blocking shots and throwing the body which was something I never saw from them in their first three games.
This also gave the team some much needed momentum for their Southern Swing which will start tomorrow in Yorkton against a very strong Terriers team.
After the weekend Yorkton is a perfect 4-0 and have out scored their opponents 22 to 8 and look to be a much improved team this year playing with a lot of confidence.
Flin Flon beat the Terriers in all 6 meetings last year, but a lot of the games were close with Yorkton holding leads in many of those games but couldn't find a way to finish.
It looks like a lot different Yorkton club this year and it should be a very interesting game tomorrow night.
Flin Flon improves to 2-1-1 after the weekend and trail the defending league champion Melfort Mustangs by 3 points for first in the division.
We won't be broadcasting any games from the road trip and our next broadcast is Saturday October the 12th from Melfort.
