Bombers Go 1-1 To Start The Season

It was an up and down weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers who kicked off the SJHL regular season on Friday.

The Bombers welcomed the Nipawin Hawks to town in their home opener on Friday and fired 63 shots at Hawk netminder Tyson Endall and hung on for the 4 to 3 win.

You have to give this young Nipawin team a lot of credit, even though they were heavilly outshot their goaltender allowed them to hang around all night.

The Flin Flon veterans were the difference in this one with Koen Senft, Kylynn Olafson, Carter Anderson and Austin Montgomery Parsons all finding  the back of the net.

Nipawin's goals came from Finley Radloff, Jack Jansen and Carter Anderson who has the same name sake as his Flin Flon counterpart.

Kenny Marquart started in goal for the Bombers and picked up the win with 17 saves on 20 shots.

The Bomber powerplay struggled going 0 for 5 but they did score a shorthanded goal courtesy of Kylynn Olafson. The Hawks were 1 for 3.

Flin Flon was hoping to carry the momentum into Melfort on Saturday as they would make their way to the Northern Lights Palace in a rematch of this past Spring's Canterra Seeds Cup Final.
