A very successful Manitoba Summer Games wrapped up in Dauphin over the weekend with over a thousand fans gathering at Credit Union Centre for the closing ceremonies.
It was a tough event for Team North who were only able to come away with one Bronze medal for Kaya Kopeechuk in high jump.
Flin Flon sent a number of athletes in basketball, soccer and volleyball.
The Girls U16-17 basketball team played very well and ended up going 3-2.
Team North beat South# 1 76-44, lost to Team West 52-42. They rebounded with a 76-44 win over Team West# 2 76-44 and hung on for a 45-44 win over Team South# 2.
They went on to the playoff round and lost to South# 1 56-39 to finish fifth overall. The Flin Flon Girls Ari Bellilse, Taylor Burwash, Sadie Hynes and Elynn Smith.
The Boys U-16-17 Basketball team went 1-2.
Things started well with a 53-50 win over Team South. They then lost to Team East 74-70 and dropped their final game to West #2 60-43. Walter Stenbeck represented Flin Flon and Chase Roy Michell was also on the squad from Cranberry.
Team North had a tough time on the soccer pitchs for U14.
The girls dropped all three games to Winnipeg Blue, East and West #1.
The Boys went 1-3. After dropping games to East, West #2 and South #2, Team North finished on a high note with a 4-2 win over West #1.
Elijah Ishaka, Grayson Longmore, Drew Patterson,Jaeger Dominey,Jacob Kozar, Jaxson Gorrell and Westyn Hlady were the Flin Flon players.
Flin Flon players for the girls were Audrey Christensen,Samantha Dallas,Ellis Pearson,Joslyn Tetlock and Anna Christensen.
U-14 Boys and Girl's volleyball both had a strong contingent from Flin Flon.
The U-14 Boy's played well dropping their game to South White in the semi's in three sets 25-21, 18-25 and 6-15.
They lost the Consolation Final to West Orange 29-26, 14-25 and 13-15.
The U-14 Girls also made the semi's losing to Team East in three sets 15-25, 27-25 and 7-15. They played South Red in the Consolation dropping both sets 9-25 and 4-25.
The Flin Flon players included Alexa Santos, Nicole Dimapiles, Ava Etienne, Violet Eggert, Elynn Smith. Jocelyn Kozar and Gracie McInstosh.
Drew Patterson was the lone Boy's player from Flin Flon.
