Thompson is hosting the Manitoba Credit Union’s Master Men’s and Women’s Provincial Curling Championship this week.
This is the first time the Hub of the North is hosting this particular tournament, which features curlers ages 60 and older.
Sam Antila, the chair of the tournament’s hosting committee who’s also participating in the competition, shares the details.
“For the men’s side, we have 16 teams from all over the province and they are divided into 2 pools of 8 and they play in pool plays starting on Thursday morning, March 9th, and continuing on until Sunday. The top 2 from each pool will advance to a play-off format and then the semi final and final is on Monday, March 13th.”
On the women’s side, they will be playing a round-robin before the playoffs instead.
There are 16 men’s teams and five women’s teams competing this year.
