The Flin Flon Bombers are sitting at .500 on the season after a pair of weekend losses to the Nipawin Hawks.

The Hawks rolled into the Whitney Forum on Friday and doubled up on the Bombers 4-2. Vincent Nardone and Caleb Moretz both scored for Flin Flon in the second period to tie up the game, only to have Hawks’ forward Colton Nikiforuk score the eventual game winner less than a minute later.

The two teams made the over four hour drive to play 24 hours later in Nipawin, with a similar result. Jessie Young scored his first of the season for the Bombers to open up the scoring with less than 30 seconds left in the opening frame, but it wasn’t enough. The Hawks tied things up on the powerplay in the second, and scored two in the third including one into the empty net to skate away with a 3-1 win.

The Bombers will play again this afternoon against the Melville Millionaires.
