Name, Colour and Jersey of Winnipeg CPL Team To Be Announced Tomorrow

The name, colour scheme and jersey of the new Winnipeg soccer team set to take part in the Canadian Premier League is set to be official unveiled tomorrow.

The Canadian Premier League is set to start play next season and will feature seven teams; Cavalry FC (Calgary), FC Edmonton, Hamilton (Ontario), HFX Wanderers FC (Halifax), Port City (B.C.), York 9 FC (York Region, Ontario) and Winnipeg.

The club, which has been long speculated, is reportedly going to be owned by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and play their home games at Investors Group Field.

Winnipeg had a professional soccer team from 1987 until 1993. They were known as the Winnipeg Fury, and played in the Canadian Soccer League from '87 until the league folded in 1992, then moved over the Canadian National Soccer League for the 1993 season.
