Northstars Fall In Season Opener

The Norman Northstars dropped their season opener last night to the Winnipeg Bruins 4-1.

The game was the first ever games for the expansion Bruins, who will be playing out of the Southdale Community Centre.

Ty Naaykens opened up the scoring half way through the first with the first goal for the new AAA club. He would add his second of the season on the PP early in the second period. Winnipeg would add two more before Mitchell Reid netted his first AAA goal for the Northstars.

Flin Flon native Keian Weseen picked up the loss between the pipes for the NorMan squad, stopping 25 of 29 shots for a season-opening .862 save percentage.

The Northstars continue their season tonight as they face Kenora at 7:30.
