Bombers Drop Weekend Games

The Flin Flon Bombers season continued over the weekend, where they dropped a pair of weekend games.

The Bombers played the Nipawin Hawks at the Whitney Forum on Friday evening, falling 5-2. Logan Casavant potted his second of the season to open up the scoring in the first period for the Hawks. Chrystopher Collin responded for Flin Flon in the second, but Nipawin answred his goal with Jake Tremblay’s first of the season and the Hawks never looked back. They’d add three more in the third, including one into the empty net, to seal the victory.

Sunday saw the Bombers come away with another loss, this time in the shootout at the hands of the Weyburn Red Wings. The Bombers got out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to the first goals of the season from both Ben Lanfermann and Caleb Moretz. The Red Wings would score in the second and third periods to send the games to overtime. Overtime solved nothing, and Cole Woodliffe and Landon Walters, both of the Weyburn Red Wings, were the only ones to score in the shootout to give Weyburn the win.

The Flin Flon Bombers currently sit third in the Sherwood Division, three points back of the SJHL-leading Melfort Mustangs. They next play tonight, as they visit the Notre Dame Hounds. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:45pm ST.
