Goldeyes Beat Canaries 8-6, Win Series

The Winnipeg Goldeyes beat the Sioux Falls Canaries 8-6 last night at Shaw Park. With the win, the Goldeyes improved to 10-4 on the season, one game back of the American Association (and North Division) leading Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

Shawn Pleffner, David Rohm and Mason Katz each had two RBI’s for the Goldeyes to lead the way. Blake Schmit had a two-run double in the ninth for the Canaries.

Farmington, NM native Edwin Carl pitched eight solid innings to pick up his first win, fanning five while walking two and allowing three earned runs on six hits. Right hander Victor Capellan came in to pick up the last out of the game and earn his first save on the year.

The Lincoln Saltdogs are in town for a weekend series with game one tonight. First pitch is scheduled for just after 7:00pm. After the weekend, the Goldeyes will be on the road for seven games.
