Wheatie Making History

A member of the Brandon Wheat Kings made history yesterday by becoming the first player to sign with the NHL's newest team, the Vegas Golden Knights.

Calgary native Reid Duke signed a three-year entry level contract with the Golden Knights yesterday in the first player transaction in franchise history.

The 21-year-old forward has 67 points (35G,32A) in 54 games with the Wheaties so far this season.

Duke is in his fourth full WHL seasons, spending parts of four seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes before coming to the Wheat Kings. He was originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in 2014 (Round 6, pick 169).

Reid Duke will finish the season in Brandon and is expected to join the Golden Knights for their inaugural development camp in the summer.
