Flin Flon blasts Melfort 5-1

Last night the Bombers took on the Mustangs in Melfort in the only SJHL game of the night.

Flin Flon jumped out to a 1-0 lead halfway through the first period thanks to Cory Thomas’ second goal of the season.

Nick Shumlanski added his 13th three minutes later to double the Bombers’ lead, and the team never looked back.

Sobkowicz, McCausland and Nyman added the other goals for Flin Flon. Tyler Heidt scored the loan goal for Melfort on the powerplay.

Winnipeg native Zac Robidoux made 25 saves to pick up his 16th win of the season.

Flin Flon currently sits first in the Sherwood division with 67 points, six points up on the Nipawin Hawks.

The Bombers are second in the SJHL only to the Battleford North Stars, who are running away from the rest of the league with a 37-8-1 record.

Flin Flon is next in action tonight as they’re in Melville to play the Millionaires
