It was a split weekend for the OCN Blizzard. The Blizzard had the Winkler Flyers at the GLMC for games on Saturday and Sunday. OCN beat Winkler 3-1 Saturday night then lost the Sunday matinee game 3-2 in overtime. The Blizzard are now tied with Winkler for 2^nd place in the MJHL. They take today off and will face the Wolverines in Waywayseecappo tomorrow night.

The Norman Northstars managed to get their first win of the season and then get another to establish their first winning streak of the season. The Northstars hosted the Interlake Lightning on back to back days. On the Saturday night game, it was a barn burner as the two teams combined for 14 goals as the Northstars won 8-7 in a shootout.  On Sunday, Norman staved off a late Lightning comeback to hold on to a 5-4 win.

It was a tough weekend for the Norman Wild as they went on the road. Playing the Westman Wildcats twice, they lost 5-1 on Friday and lost 5-2 on Sunday. The Saturday afternoon game was against the Winnipeg Avros in which they were shutout 1-0. The Wild are tied for 6^th with the Central Plains Capitals with four points.

The CFL playoff matchups are set. After a Winnipeg Blue bombers win and a Saskatchewan Roughriders loss in the final weekend of the CFL schedule, the Bombers will travel to Vancouver to take on the BC Lions next Sunday. On the Eastern side of the bracket, the Edmonton Eskimos will crossover to take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Hamilton. The Calgary Stampeders and Ottawa Redblacks have byes.

The Winnipeg Jets finished their weekend 1 and 1 after beating the Detroit Red Wings on Friday and losing to the New York Rangers last night. Three goals in five minutes was what put the Rangers in the driver's seat in the second period to skate their way to a victory. The loss puts the Jets out of a playoff spot and the team is currently ninth in the Western Conference.

The Brandon Wheat Kings split their weekend as well. The Friday night game was a rematch of the 2016 WHL Finals when they played the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Wheat Kings edged the Birds 3-2 to keep up their domination of the team. But on Saturday, the Wheaties gave up six straight goals to lose 6-3 to the Edmonton Oil Kings. The Wheat Kings have managed to stay in a playoff spot, sitting in the first wildcard spot with 17 points.
