The Norman Northstars started their season winless on their opening weekend road trip losing 3-0, 9-1 and 9-3 to Pembina Valley, Winnipeg Thrashers and Central Plains. The team was only one of two teams along with the Brandon Wheat Kings to not register a point throughout the opening weekend.

It was a slow week for the Norman Wild as well as they lost 7-3 and 4-0 to the Yellowhead Chiefs over the weekend in Shoal Lake. The Wild will take a break in the season schedule as they participate in a showcase next weekend in Morden.

The Norman Wolves fell twice in the season opening weekend to the Central Plains Capitals. After losing the first game 8-2, the Wolves took only one more goal to lose 7-3 to the Capitals on Sunday. The wolves lost forward Chase Bertholet to a knee injury in the first game and he went on to miss the second game as well. Length of the injury is unknown.

The OCN Blizzard came from behind and tied it late in the third then took it to overtime against the Portage Terriers on Saturday. The Terriers took the win 4-3. The Blizzard now sits 2-0-1 on the season and will host the Winnipeg Blues Friday and Saturday. Last night, Portage beat the Stampeders 4-2 in Swan River, Selkirk doubled Dauphin 8-4, Steinbach blew out Waywayseecappo 9-1 and Winnipeg beat Virden 4-3 in OT.

The OCN Storm made it look easy as they crushed the Norway House North Stars 18-2 at Norway House. The Storm kicks off their regular season on Friday in Cross Lake.

It was a weekend sweep for the Flin Flon Bombers as they beat the Melville Millionaires twice during the weekend. The bombers won 3-1 on Friday and Zac Robidoux registered a shutout on Saturday beating the Millionaires 2-0. Flin Flon has gotten off to a 6-1-1 start to their season.
