More people voted in Thompson’s municipal election this time around, but turnout still finished at 27 per cent.

Just under 23 hundred residents cast a ballot Wednesday. That’s about 225 more than in 2022, although the number of eligible voters also grew.

City of Thompson Communications Officer Ian Graham says the TRCC got busy as the workday wrapped up.

Those still waiting at closing time were able to vote. Graham says some residents reported difficulty standing in the longer lines because of their age or physical condition.

This was the second straight municipal election with the TRCC as the only election-day polling location.
