Before plugging in those Halloween lights, Manitoba Hydro is reminding residents to check their decorations for electrical hazards.

Media Relations Assistant Amy-Jean MacLean says a little preparation can give people time to replace damaged equipment.
 

Hydro also reminds residents to avoid overloading outlets and keep cords uncovered by rugs or mats.

Any cords used for outdoor displays should be designed and rated for outdoor use.
