The Canadian Nurses Association is calling for action to improve access to care as health ministers gather in Winnipeg.
The association wants governments to make better use of nurses’ skills and make it easier for them to work across provincial and territorial borders.
It also wants stronger privacy protections and oversight for artificial intelligence in health care.
CEO Doctor Valerie Grdisa says removing barriers for nurses could help reduce wait times.
The association is also calling for workforce planning that reflects the needs of rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
