On May 27, at approximately 10 p.m., RCMP in The Pas responded to a report of gunshots being fired on the 300-block of Ralls Island Road.
Officers subsequently learned four people were inside a vehicle, including a five-year-old child, when a group of suspects – all wearing hoodies – approached and opened fire.
A 34-year-old male was critically injured after being shot multiple times and was transported to hospital, where he survived and recovered from his injuries. A second occupant sustained minor injuries in the shooting, while the two other people inside the vehicle – including the child – were unharmed.
The Manitoba Integrated Law Enforcement Team (MILET), which investigates serious and organized crime activities in the province, assumed responsibility for the investigation on June 1. Investigators believe the shooting is related to the local drug trade in The Pas.
Following a comprehensive investigation, which included multiple search warrants, evidence collection and interviews, officers arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting.
Morgan Blair, 34, was arrested at Brandon Correctional Centre. He is charged with:
- Discharging a firearm with intent to wound x4;
- Attempted robbery with firearm;
- Possessing a firearm contrary to an order of prohibition; and
- Possessing a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized.
Tara Kreshewski, 44, of The Pas is charged with attempted robbery with a firearm.
The suspects remain in custody.
Further charges are expected. The investigation continues.
