The new terminal at Thompson Regional Airport is just days away from welcoming its first passengers.

 

Operations at the new 44-thousand-square-foot terminal are set to begin October 4th, following a recent public open house that gave residents their first look inside.

 

The terminal replaces the airport’s aging 14-thousand-square-foot facility and is part of a 125-million-dollar redevelopment of the airport.

 

Thompson Regional Airport serves roughly 120-thousand passengers each year, with more than half travelling for medical appointments.

 

Around 45-million pounds of freight also move through the airport annually, helping connect communities across Northern Manitoba and Nunavut.

 

An official grand opening is planned for later in October.
