Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak will now display the Two-Spirit flag at all of its assemblies and gatherings.

The resolution was adopted during MKO’s 45th Annual General Assembly at Manto Sipi Cree Nation last month.

Under the resolution, the flag will be carried during Grand Entry and displayed at future MKO gatherings.

MKO says the move recognizes the important roles Two-Spirit people have held within First Nations cultures and traditions.

The organization also committed to increasing awareness and education among its leadership, staff and member First Nations, with a focus on addressing discrimination and strengthening inclusion.
