The Thompson Chamber of Commerce will lead a new labour market assessment and regional immigration initiative aimed at identifying local workforce needs.

Mayor Colleen Smook says the Chamber will develop a labour market forecast and establish a screening committee to look at how applicants’ qualifications line up with jobs needed in Thompson.

Smook says filling workforce gaps will become increasingly important as Thompson prepares for potential growth tied to northern development and the Churchill corridor.
