Thompson is looking to strengthen its voice on northern transportation after joining the Churchill Gateway Group as a founding municipal partner.

Mayor Colleen Smook says one of her priorities is improving transportation infrastructure connecting Thompson and other northern communities to the Port of Churchill.

Smook says possibilities such as additional rail infrastructure or a road farther north need to be part of the discussion, with Thompson positioned as a major transportation hub for the region.
