With Manitoba’s municipal elections coming up October 28th, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business is calling on candidates to make small businesses a priority.
A recent CFIB survey found 87 per cent of Manitoba small business owners surveyed reported a property tax increase over the past year, with nearly a third seeing an increase of more than 10 per cent.
CFIB Senior Policy Analyst for the Prairies Robin Betze says businesses need more predictability from their municipal councils.
Betze says CFIB wants candidates to review municipal spending before raising taxes and provide clear, multi-year tax plans so businesses can better prepare for future costs.
