Thompson’s new Crime Suppression Unit is beginning to show what it’s been doing since hitting the streets earlier this summer.
Deputy Mayor Louise Fitzpatrick says officers dealt with a wide range of calls throughout July and August.
Fitzpatrick says officers have also made arrests connected to weapons and drug investigations, while the city has received positive feedback about the unit.
The city’s goal is for the unit’s presence downtown to deter crime and help residents feel safer.
