Tariffs Put Small Businesses at Risk

New U.S. tariffs could put some Canadian small businesses in an extremely difficult financial position.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says about 40 per cent of small Canadian exporters have products targeted by the latest tariffs, with some businesses expecting major revenue losses.

CFIB Senior Policy Analyst for the Prairies Robin Betze says a drop of that size can threaten the future of an entire business.

Betze says businesses could eventually be forced to cut employee hours, lay off workers, postpone investments or even close altogether.
