International Overdose Awareness Day is coming up this Sunday, with the Northern Health Region reminding residents that support and harm-reduction resources are available locally.
Bruce Krentz says the day is about remembering those lost to overdose while supporting families and people in recovery without stigma.
Free harm-reduction supplies and naloxone kits are available at several locations in Thompson, including Thompson General Hospital’s emergency department, the Northern Health Region administration building, Thompson Clinic, Safer Choices Network and the YWCA.
Residents are also encouraged to wear purple on August 31st to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day.
