University College of the North (UCN) celebrated the grand opening of its new student residence in Flin Flon. The residence provides students with additional housing options as they pursue education and training in the region.

The new residence features 30 rooms, including 22 student suites and eight executive suites for instructors and visiting professionals. The facility also includes a dining hall, a commercial kitchen, and a recreation space.

The residence represents a $2-million investment supported by UCN, the Government of Manitoba, PrairiesCan, and the Manitoba Mineral Development Fund (MMDF). 

“This is about more than providing a place to live,” said Jamie Grant, Associate Vice-President, Community and Industry Solutions at UCN. “It helps make education and training more accessible and supports students, communities and employers across northern Manitoba.”

The Flin Flon residence makes training more accessible to people across the region. 

UCN recognizes the contributions of its government, Indigenous, Métis, municipal, industry, and community partners who helped make the project possible.
