With Thompson’s municipal election approaching, residents considering putting their name on the ballot are being reminded that serving on council involves much more than attending regular meetings.

Mayor Colleen Smook says councillors take part in committee, budget and public consultation meetings, while also attending community events and responding to residents.
 

With the election coming up, Smook says prospective candidates should be prepared for the time and commitment that comes with representing the community.
