The Northern Health Region is rolling out a program aimed at helping people stay connected to their communities and access supports outside of traditional healthcare.

Social prescribing allows healthcare providers to connect people with community services that can support their overall health and help them continue living independently.

Northern Health Region’s Bruce Krentz says those connections can take several different forms.

Krentz says social prescribing is currently being rolled out in the region, and residents interested in learning more can ask their healthcare provider or visit the Northern Health Region’s Facebook page.
