The Manitoba government says it has added more than 47-hundred net new health-care workers since October 2023, including doctors, nurses, health-care aides and allied health professionals.
The province says the additions are helping increase capacity as hospitals and emergency departments face continued pressure.
But the Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals says significant gaps remain, pointing to shortages among MRI and CT technologists, respiratory therapists and rural paramedics.
MAHCP President Jason Linklater says vacancy rates in some of those professions remain between 30 and 40 per cent and is calling for a comprehensive allied health workforce plan.
