The Manitoba government is investing more than 97-thousand dollars to expand a healthy food initiative across northern Manitoba.

The funding will allow the Northern Association of Community Councils to expand its Northern Healthy Foods Initiative, which currently supports 23 communities.

The expansion will involve consultations with four to seven additional communities, with work focused on food security and food sovereignty.

A first phase of pilot programming is expected to begin in January 2027.
