Thompson Homeowners Could See Slight Tax Decrease

Thompson homeowners should soon be receiving their 2026 property tax bills, and Mayor Colleen Smook says some may see a slight decrease compared with last year.

Smook says the city kept its mill rate increase to 1.16 per cent this year, while the provincial Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit increased to 16-hundred dollars and a 92-dollar special service levy expired.

Smook says rising fuel, equipment and staffing costs could make keeping future increases this low more difficult.
