Access to veterinary care continues to be a major challenge in Thompson, with no full-time veterinarian currently serving the community.

 

The Thompson Regional Humane Society has expanded its role in recent years as limited access to animal healthcare affects both pet owners and the shelter itself.

 

Oswald Sawh with the Humane Society says some families are now facing incredibly difficult situations just to access basic care.

 

 

Sawh says the Humane Society considers regular, affordable veterinary care an essential service and has been lobbying the province for more support to address the immediate need.
