CUPE Manitoba is calling on the provincial government to move quickly on legislation aimed at strengthening protections for renters.

 

The union says Bill 13 would amend the Residential Tenancies Act, including changes to landlord requirements, tenant records and penalties for failing to comply with Residential Tenancies Branch orders. 

 

CUPE Manitoba President Gina McKay says tenants and people experiencing housing insecurity need greater protections. The union has sent a letter to the Premier and Minister of Public Service Delivery urging the province to prevent further delays and pass Bill 13 during the fall legislative session.
