Manitoba Posts Strong July Job Growth

Manitoba added 5,900 jobs in July, according to the latest Statistics Canada labour force survey.

The province recorded the strongest job growth among the Prairie provinces and the second-highest increase in Canada.

Manitoba’s unemployment rate remained at five per cent, the lowest in the country for the fourth consecutive month.

The province says Manitoba also posted the strongest private-sector job growth in Canada and the second-best overall employment growth.

Youth unemployment was 10.7 per cent, the second-lowest rate nationally.

Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses says the latest numbers show Manitoba’s labour market remains strong despite ongoing disruptions to global trade.
