A Thompson driver is facing a hefty fine after being stopped for excessive speeding on Highway 6 near Grand Rapids.

Thompson RCMP say a vehicle was clocked travelling 176 kilometres an hour in a 100 kilometre an hour zone at around 4 p.m. Tuesday on the busy highway. Police say the 28-year-old Thompson driver was issued a $1,045 speeding ticket along with a Serious Offence Notice.

RCMP are reminding motorists that there is no excuse for dangerous driving and are urging everyone to obey speed limits and help keep Manitoba’s roads safe.
