An increase in hepatitis A cases across Manitoba has prompted the province to expand eligibility for the hepatitis A vaccine.

Health officials say the overall risk to Manitobans remains low, but they’re encouraging those who qualify to take advantage of the free vaccine.

Bruce Krentz, Health Promotion Coordinator with the Northern Health Region, explains who is now eligible to receive a free hepatitis A vaccine under the province’s expanded criteria.
