The Royal Canadian Legion is turning 100 Friday, and while celebrations are taking place across Canada, the Thompson branch will be marking the milestone with cake and an opportunity for members and visitors to celebrate a century of service.

The Legion was officially incorporated on July 17, 1926, and has spent the last 100 years supporting veterans, advocating on their behalf, and helping preserve Canada’s tradition of remembrance.

Branches across the country are recognizing the centennial with open houses, barbecues, community events, and other local celebrations.
