With National Drowning Prevention Week beginning July 19th, the Northern Health Region is reminding residents that enjoying northern Manitoba’s lakes safely starts with simple precautions.
Community Health Promotions Coordinator Bruce Krentz says drowning is largely preventable, but active supervision around the water is critical, especially for young children.
Krentz also encourages people to know their swimming limits, avoid alcohol while boating or swimming, and keep a close eye on children whenever they’re near the water.
